Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Student
Azra is a graduate-level intern therapist in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and is preparing to begin their practicum training in January 2027. Within the university's chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society, they serve as an officer Program Representative and Peer Mentor. They also hold a B.S. in Psychology with a certificate in Women & Gender Studies from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
As a Dual Credit Succes Coach for Brazosport College, they have helped students navigate academic transitions, stress, and motivation. They've also volunteered as a crisis counselor for The Trevor Project where they learned to help youth create a path to safety during their most vulnerable moments. Their background in empowerment photography additionally gives them experience working with body image, identity, self-expression, and confidence.
Azra approaches counseling from a humanistic, strengths-based perspective and brings a warm, encouraging presence to their work. They value authentic therapeutic relationships and creating collaborative, inclusive spaces where clients feel understood as whole people rather than reduced to diagnoses or symptoms, including all of the complicated, contradictory, and occasionally messy parts.
